The Sierra Club Washington State Chapter is governed by an Executive Committee (ExCom) made up of volunteer leaders from across the state. This executive committee is responsible for:
- Financial Oversight: Approve the chapter’s annual budget, including staffing structure, and provide ongoing oversight and approval of any significant budget changes.
- Conservation and Endorsements: Approve chapter campaigns developed by chapter volunteer leaders and set policy as needed on high-profile issues. The ExCom also approves endorsements for ballot initiatives, statewide, and local elections.
- Planning: Help shape long-range plans to guide the chapter on achieving statewide objectives.
- Committees: The ExCom is empowered to create volunteer committees and teams to address important environmental issues and appoint committee leads.
- Recruitment: Recruit and onboard new ExCom members.
- Ambassadors: Visible Sierra Club leaders engaged in developing and strengthening Sierra Club’s community partnerships
