Join us to get out the vote for our priority endorsed candidates in Washington, Kim Schrier (WA-08) and Beth Doglio (WA-10)! There are just three days left to vote in this election, so this is a crucial time to call voters and make sure they’ve sent in their ballots.
In Washington's 10th District, we have an exciting opportunity to send a true climate champion to Congress. Beth has spent her career fighting for the environment. She was the founding director of Washington Conservation Voters, a senior advisor at Climate Solutions, and directed the Power Past Coal campaign that stopped seven coal export terminals in their tracks. She has been one of the top environmental leaders in the state legislature, including prime sponsoring the strongest toxics reduction law in the nation and the first-in-the-nation Clean Buildings for WA Act. Beth is the only candidate in her race who supports the Green New Deal.
In Washington’s 8th District, we are working hard to re-elect Dr. Kim Schrier, the first Democrat ever elected in the district, and a proven champion for combating climate change and protecting public lands in her first term. A pediatrician for 16 years, Dr. Schrier knows firsthand the importance of protecting clean air and clean water for our children’s health and our communities. She has co-sponsored legislation to protect and maintain our public lands, including the Yakima River Basin and Puget Sound. She was a founding member of the Congressional Plastics Solutions Task Force, and as part of the Committee on Agriculture, she has sought to reduce carbon emissions through sustainable agriculture. She has worked to ensure that we stay accountable to the Paris Agreement and move towards renewable energy. Driven by science and evidence-based solutions, she’s the best candidate to ensure we meet our climate goals and protect the health of our communities.
If you’re interested in making sure these climate champions get to Congress, please join us for a GOTV phonebank. Phonebanking allows us to have one-on-one conversations with voters safely during this pandemic, and you can do it from the comfort of your couch. And while you might feel shy or uncomfortable calling strangers, remember: On a Sierra Club phonebank, you’ll have a Zoom room of folks cheering you on.
We can’t afford any more years of inaction on the climate crisis or our other environmental crises. Both Kim and Beth understand that. We need you to step up and help get them into office. You can find a register for campaign phonebanks at this link: www.mobilize.us/climatevoterwa
