ICYMI: December Writing Circle Event Recording and Resources

Thank you to everyone who joined the Decemeber Writing Circle, and to Deeda Seed, Public Lands Senior Campaigner at the Center for Biological Diversity, for sharing your time and knowledge with our local writing group.

For December's Writing Circle, we focused on two pressing topics: the Inland Port and the Uinta Basin Railway project. Work on the Inland Port is speeding ahead with the support of many Utah politicians. Deeda Seed has been at the forefront, opposing the environmental and social devastation it will cause. The proposed expansion of the Uinta Basin Railway will also cause environmental harm as it plows through forests, harming water supplies and species habitat in an effort to increase fossil fuel extraction. Without opposition, both projects will contribute significantly to the climate crisis. The Uinta Basin Railway project, for example, would produce 53 million tons of carbon dioxide, equivalent to emissions from six dirty coal plants, if approved.

Watch the event recording to deepen your knowledge on these critical issues, and learn how you can take meaningful action today.
