SEPTEMBER: The United States is facing a potentially staggering expansion of dangerous heat over the coming decades due to climate change. Join us for a conversation with Union of Concerned Scientists to learn about the rapid, widespread increases in extreme heat projected to occur across the country and in Utah.
We’ll discuss climate urgency and why we must take action to prepare and strengthen community resilience. Speakers include Rachel Licker, Senior Climate Scientist with the Climate & Energy Program at the Union of Concerned Scientist, and Shana Udvardy, Climate Resilience Analyst with the Climate & Energy program at the Union of Concerned Scientists.
AUGUST: Utah's youth voices and collective power are reshaping the future. Tune in to hear from youth leaders in Utah's climate justice movement; learn how they act for justice while holding institutions and businesses accountable for taking action on climate change. You'll hear stories about the power of people making effective change, often before being able to vote, and learn how to support the budding youth environmental movement. Speakers include Eliza Van Dyk, Mishka Banuri, Alan Gutierrez, and Andie Madsen.
JULY: Join for an intersectional conversation about public lands, the outdoors, and how land conservation is a critical climate solution. Speakers included Olivia Juarez, Latinx Community Organizer; Jonny González, Program Coordinator at Latino Outdoors; and Braidan Weeks, Regional Director at the Ute Land Trust.
JUNE: Join for a conversation about environmental justice, activism, and protecting public health with Dr. Daniel Mendoza, Leah Thomas and Dr. Elizabeth Joy. In this webinar, we learn about the impacts of air pollution and climate change, and how the threats from both compound and disproportionately affect communities of color.
