Washington, DC -- Today, Ford and other auto executives are set to meet with Donald Trump, Scott Pruitt, and Elaine Chao to discuss the administration’s plans to rollback the clean car standards. The Auto industry has been working feverishly to claim that they intend to lobby Trump to protect parts of the standards after having spent the past year pushing to roll them back, despite overwhelming objections from the majority of Americans, scientists, and environmental experts.

Washington, DC -- Today, Scott Pruitt reportedly  formally began the process of rolling back the clean car standards. The clean car standards will limit carbon pollution by 6 billion tons, save consumers $1.7 trillion dollars in fuel costs, and reduce oil consumption by up to 4 million barrels every day.

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Today, the U.S. and South Korea reached an agreement “in principle” on the six-year-old U.S.-Korea Free Trade Agreement (KORUS) in which, among other things, South Korea has agreed to double the number of higher-polluting U.S. vehicles that may be imported each year without having to meet Korea’s stricter auto emissions standards. South Korea also agreed to consider the weaker U.S. standards when developing their 2021-2025 auto emissions standards.

Today marks the start of the DC Auto Show. Despite recent claims of investment in electric vehicles by Ford, the auto company isn’t showcasing any of their electric vehicles. As a part of the Auto Alliance, Ford is lobbying the Trump administration to roll back vehicle fuel efficiency and greenhouse gas emissions standards.

Today, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced findings that Fiat Chrysler used cheat devices in more than 100,000 U.S. diesel vehicles sold since 2014, including the Dodge Ram 1500 pickup trucks and Jeep Grand Cherokees with 3.0-liter diesel engines. These emissions cheating devices allow the vehicles to pass emissions control tests while emitting excess emissions when in daily use.

On Wednesday, Governor Cuomo is expected to announce plans to install over 500 electric-vehicle (EV) charging stations, 500 at New York workplaces and 69 along the New York State Thruway, as a part of his State of the State agenda.

Today, final numbers of U.S. electric vehicle (EV) sales for the 2016 year were released showing that despite low gas prices, a record-breaking 24,785 electric vehicles were purchased this past December, the largest sales month ever (the last highest sales month was September 2016 when 17,224 EVs were sold in the U.S.).
