Watauga Lake Cleanup on September 9 yielded (4 tons) 8060 pounds of garbage gathered into dumpsters at Fish Springs Marina in Carter county and Sink Mountain Boat Ramp in Johnson County by community volunteers within 8 hours. The cleanup represented a seamless interplay of state agencies, like TVA and county governments and local NGOs, like the Watauga Group of the TN Sierra Club Chapter, Watauga Sailing Club and the Watauga Watershed Alliance.
