When and where are the best places to experience resident and migrating birds--like the azure-sky colored cerulean warbler, a songster that spends winters in the Andes and may be spotted summering in the deep woods of Tennessee? Hear some clues from biologist Melinda Welton, who will share her knowledge and tips at the August 8th program meeting.

Melinda has been involved in bird conservation since overseeing the reintroduction of bald eagles and peregrine falcons in North Carolina in the 1980s. Her work has taken her from the mountains of Northeast Tennessee to Central America, identifying lands essential to bird migration. The cerulean warbler has inspired much of her work. Currently she is a board member of TennGreen Land Conservancy, co-chair of the Conservation Committee for the Tennessee Ornithological Society, co-founder of Bird Safe Nashville, and she serves on the Purple Martin Task Force.
