WHAT IS THE HIGHLAND RIM FOREST

The Western Highland Rim Forest in Tennessee covers 15,000sq km and is home to rare and endangered species. About 200 square miles of this Forest cradles Nashville from the south at Radnor Lake, all along the western edge of Davidson County and up through Joelton. This ecosystem plays a vital role in environmental health by filtering air and water, regulating water flow, and storing carbon. It provides natural resources like timber and products, but it’s endangered by deforestation, agriculture, and urbanization. Conserving it is important for ecological, economic, and cultural reasons. Conservation efforts will protect this irreplaceable ecosystem and secure its future for future generations.
