Located in Northwestern Arizona, Grand Canyon National Park is often considered one of the seven wonders of the world. The park covers 1,217,262 acres and encompasses 277 miles of the Colorado River and adjacent lands. Grand Canyon NP was founded in 1919 and has long been considered a U.S. treasure, and a very vast one at that. Its immense size leaves many visitors awestruck. The park is home to the awe-inspiring Grand Canyon, a 1-mile deep gorge carved by the Colorado River. Over 6 million visitors came to see this unique combination of geological color and erosional forms in 2018.
