Jim Shulman
Nashville Vice Mayor Jim Shulman will discuss "What can the Council and Individuals do together to Improve our Environment."

Vice Mayor Jim Shulman graduated from Vanderbilt Law School. After working as lead legal counsel for the state Department of Finance and Administration and serving as chief of staff for then-Speaker of the House Jimmy Naifeh, he was elected to the Metro Council (25th District) in 1999. He served two four-year terms and chaired the Budget, Transportation and Public Works Committees, prioritizing city funding accountability and emergency preparedness. Shulman owns the Maggie Moo's Ice Cream franchises in Green Hills and Cool Springs.

Returning to work for the state, Schulman worked to implement the state's CoverTennessee program and Safety Net program during TennCare Reform. He helped develop the online program FindHelpTN, a hub for those with disabilities seeking to qualify for federal and state aid programs. Shulman is now executive director of the Tennessee Commission on Aging and Disability.
