Mike Teaney and Sam Frazee - A Program of Acoustic Music

Mike Teaney and Sam Frazee comprise the full-time music staff at MetroParks in the cultural arts division. Their "day jobs" consist of programming classes, concerts, events and festivals for the Nashville community. Each year Parks hosts a large multi-cultural festival in October called Celebrate Nashville. They also have free dancing every Saturday night in the summer with a live band at the Big Band dances in Centennial Park. There are weekly music classes through-out the year for kids, adults, seniors and persons with disabilities. The Cultural Arts department of metro parks strives to offer music as recreation. A lot of fun, rest and relaxation and healing is possible with music.

Both Sam and Mike come from coal mining states. Kentucky and West Virginia respectively. They have each seen the effects or poor land management. "We feel strongly that conservation efforts are necessary in order to protect our most valuable resource, the beautiful natural world around us. We are planning a program of acoustic music featuring, guitar, upright bass and possibly some other surprises. We will be sharing songs that have resonated with us and our love for nature. Expect to hear some American folk songs, some bluegrass and maybe some jazz and blues tunes."

The Metro Parks Music department provides recreational music opportunities to Nashville and its surrounding communities.
