Ben Mack, South Carolina Chapter Chair, is excited to announce that the Personnel Committee has appointed Montravias King as Chapter Director for the Sierra Club South Carolina Chapter. Chair Mack stated, " I am thrilled to have Montravias joining our team to lend his talents and leadership to advancing our efforts."
Montravias most recently served as the inaugural Director of the Justice40 Accelerator at the Partnership for Southern Equity, where he secured and managed grant funding to support environmental justice organizations nationwide. Before this, he served as Clean Energy Campaigns Director at the North Carolina League of Conservation Voters, advocating for the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act and working on environmental and energy issues with rural mayors across Eastern NC at the intersections of economic development, equity, and environmental justice.
Montravias currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the Southeastern Wind Coalition and previously served on the NC Taskforce for Offshore Wind Economic Strategies, Subcommittee on Outreach and Engagement. King is also an active Rotary International and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. member.
As our new Chapter Director, Montravias will play a pivotal role in leading our staff, Board, and grassroots volunteers. His leadership will be instrumental in advancing the Sierra Club's priority work, including protecting undeveloped wild landscapes, ensuring abundant and healthy wildlife by safeguarding key habitats, and accelerating the transition to responsibly produced clean, renewable energy, thereby hastening the end of fossil fuel mining, drilling, and burning.
