Did you host an event? We'd love to hear about it. Fill out this survey to let us know how it went.
The latest UN Report told us that we have 12 years to rapidly transform our society and economy to protect civilization as we know it. The US government just released a report detailing the massive losses that the US has already and will continue to face because of climate-fueled crises. This is the fight for our lives, and we need to strengthen our climate justice communities if we are to face it together.
Local action is already driving national impact. In the midterms, we flipped the House and elected many climate and clean energy champions into office. One hundred cities across the US -- and two states -- are committed to transitioning to 100% clean, renewable energy for all.
Now is the time to look to our communities for healing, wisdom, creativity, and collective action. During Sierra Club’s Our Climate Resolutions week, we are asking our national climate community to gather in their hometowns to collectively envision the future we want and begin to generate plans for how we can all work to enact that future - starting where you live.
Choose a Path
You will be asked to choose between two main paths for these community conversations, depending on what feels most powerful to you. Each path will have a separate discussion guide, and will be supported by different Sierra Club campaigns. These fights are of course interconnected, but choosing a focus will help guide your group towards tangible 2019 actions.
-
100% Clean Energy Future for All - Explore the challenges your community faces and how clean and affordable energy can create a more equitable and livable community.
-
Fight for a Green Agenda in your New Congress - Harness the momentum of this unique political moment and join Sierra Club in fighting for a new congressional agenda that addresses climate change with the scale and urgency required.
What does a community conversation look like?
Gather 3-15 individuals from your community and guide the group in an intentional conversation on one of the above topics. These are not informational meetings, they will focus on people’s values and experiences, your community’s specific needs and opportunities, and your priorities on a given issue. Through these deep dialogues, we can shape our work to be grounded in local needs and serve people first. Depending on the focus of your conversation, Sierra Club National organizers will provide guidance and support for your team to act on some of the visions articulated in your meeting. We ask that you host your conversation during the week of January 21st - January 27th, but if you would like to host at a later date just let us know at the contact information listed below.
