Redwood Chapter members attended the Bay Conservation and Development Commission’s Workshop on Economic Justice on Jan. 17 in San Francisco. Recognizing impacts that may come from developments on economically challenged communities, the workshop was an effort to scope and devise new guidelines for the commission.
Among the commentators was Sierra Club ally and director of All Positives Possible, La Donna Williams, who addressed the impacts on everyone from these developments. “If a project impacts our EJ communities air, water, and soil it will ultimately impact everyone's air, water and soil,” she said.
The guidelines are scheduled to be issued in May for comments, and a finalized version will be available in July. Learn more
