TC Energy -- the same company behind the controversial Keystone XL tar sands pipeline -- plans to build the fracked gas pipeline through Wet’suwet’en territory despite a lack of consent from tribal leaders.
Peaceful blockades, rallies and marches are also taking place across Canada in solidarity with the Wet'suwet'en.

Following a Request for Proposal process, $8.6 million dollars in the settlement funds will be awarded to local projects benefiting communities in the Peoria area. The funds are a result of a settlement agreement with Vistra Energy to retire the E.D. Edwards coal plant. The Sierra Club, Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), and Respiratory Health Association (RHA) worked with the NAACP Peoria Branch, Illinois Peoples’ Action, Central Illinois Healthy Community Alliance (CIHCA), and Environmental Law & Policy Center (ELPC) to evaluate and grant proposals and decide how best to allocate the funding.

ALBANY -- The New York State Assembly unanimously passed the Outdoor Rx Act on February 13, 2020. The bill, sponsored by Assemblywoman Didi Barrett (D-106), would lower barriers for veterans to access New York State’s beautiful outdoor spaces. The bill now moves to the New York State Senate for final approval before moving to the desk of Governor Andrew Cuomo (D).

Chicago, IL -- Today, the Sierra Club announced that it’s launching their first Victory Corps campaign of the cycle in support of Marie Newman. The Sierra Club endorsed Newman late last month, their second endorsement of a challenger to a Democratic incumbent this cycle.
The Victory Corps program embeds staff on campaigns to mobilize Sierra Club members and contact voters on behalf of endorsed candidates.
