WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Today, Interior Secretary David Bernhardt issued a secretarial order that thwarts the ability to pursue projects funded by the Land and Water Conservation Fund on national public land. Some of the language of this order was drawn from amendments to the original bill that were rejected in the legislative process. This is the administration’s second attack on GAOA in as many weeks, after the Department of the Interior broke the law by failing to submit required paperwork to Congress by a November 3 deadline.

Today, ignoring evidence about the serious threat Enbridge’s Line 3 tar sands pipeline would pose to Minnesota’s clean water, the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) Commissioner Laura Bishop approved a water crossing permit allowing the pipeline to be constructed through hundreds of Minnesota waterways.

Albany, N.Y. -- Today, November 11, Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed the Outdoor Rx Act into law. The bill seeks to removes barriers that prevent New York veterans from accessing the state’s public lands to heal from service-related injuries and trauma. The bill, sponsored by Assemblywoman Didi Barrett and Sen. Brian Benjamin, passed both houses of the New York State Assembly in February.

San Francisco Celebrates the Passage of an All-Electric Building Ordinance For Newly Constructed Buildings and Framework for a Just Transition On Tuesday, the San Francisco Board of Supervisors unanimously voted to pass the all-electric new buildings ordinance introduced by Supervisor Rafael Mandelman and co-sponsored by Supervisors Dean Preston, Gordon Mar, Shamann Walton, and Matt Haney.

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Tonight, the United States Senate passed the Accelerating Veterans Recovery Outdoors (AVRO) Act as a provision of the Veterans Comprehensive Prevention, Access to Care, and Treatment (COMPACT) Act (H.R.8247), a package of bills addressing healthcare and suicide prevention for veterans. The House of Representatives passed the bill September 23, and it now awaits the president’s signature.

ANNAPOLIS , MD - Today, Talen Energy announced that the company would stop burning coal at the Montour, Brandon Shores, and Wagner power plants by the end of 2025, pending approvals by relevant state agencies. In addition to moving off coal, Talen publicly committed to develop 1 GW of solar and electricity storage facilities, beginning with a 100MW solar development adjacent to the Montour site in Pennsylvania and storage at Wagner in Maryland.
