PennFuture, Clean Air Council, and Sierra Club obtained a settlement on March 18 that halts construction of the proposed Bradford County Real Estate Partners (BCREP) liquified natural gas (LNG) plant in Wyalusing Township, Bradford County, and requires the applicant to obtain a new air quality permit should it wish to continue with this proposed project.

K2 Gold, a Canadian mining company, announced that it is indefinitely suspending its controversial gold drilling project on Conglomerate Mesa, public lands located on the doorstep of Death Valley National Park. Tribes and other local groups are celebrating the news given the project posed a serious threat to Conglomerate Mesa’s ecological, cultural, and recreational values.

The bill provides much-needed funding increases for vital government agencies and essential services, reversing years of cuts under the previous administration. The package also features important funding for the outdoors and nature access, including support for programs to protect community forests; develop parks and save green spaces in urban neighborhoods; and eliminate barriers preventing children, youth, and families from accessing public lands and waters.
