Pittsburgh, PA — La secretaria de energía, Jennifer Granholm, anunciará hoy el Informe Federal sobre Energía y Empleos, el cual resalta el continuo crecimiento de los empleos de energía limpia, incluyendo la manufactura de vehículos de cero emisiones y la infraestructura de recarga eléctrica de vehículos, los cuales superan a los de combustión interna.
El informe del Departamento de Energía confirma que las inversiones audaces son necesarias para desarrollar este rubro y una fuerza laboral robusta y diversa que impulsará a nuestro país.
Como respuesta, el director del Programa de Justicia Laboral y Económica del Sierra Club, Derrick Figures, emitió la siguiente declaración:
“Una y otra vez, se nos recuerda del ilimitado potencial de la industria de energía limpia, el cual lograremos solo por medio de audaces inversiones que aseguren un crecimiento equitativo. El reporte del Departamento de Energía de hoy es quizá el recordatorio más detallado en lo que se puede convertir este sector cuando el Congreso apruebe audaces inversiones en energía limpia.
“Mientras el país sigue forcejeando con la crisis climática y su amenaza contra la red eléctrica y con los costos energéticos en alza, la administración Biden presenta un plan para que el Congreso pueda acelerar la economía de energía limpia y lograr un país alimentado por energía doméstica generada por empleos sindicados. Ahora no es el momento de cruzarse de brazos. El Congreso debe aprovechar esta oportunidad y crear el boom laboral que nuestro país necesita”.

DOE Clean Energy Report Captures Jobs Potential and Why Significant Investments is Critical
Pittsburgh, PA – Today, Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm will announce the release of the 2022 U.S. Energy and Employment Report. The report outlines the continued growth of clean energy jobs, including zero-emission vehicle manufacturing and electric vehicle charging infrastructure, outpacing those in the fossil fuel industry. DOE’s report confirms that bold investments are necessary to grow the field and build a strong and diverse workforce that will power the country.
In response, Sierra Club Director of Labor and Economic Justice Program Derrick Figures issued the following statement:
“Time and again, we’re reminded of the near limitless potential of the clean energy industry – potential that will only be realized by bold investments that ensures equitable growth. Today’s Department of Energy report is perhaps the most detailed reminder yet of what this sector could become when Congress passes bold investments in clean energy.
“As the country continues to grapple with the climate crisis threatening grid reliability and rising energy costs, the Biden administration is presenting a roadmap for how Congress can help turbocharge the clean energy economy and power the country with homegrown energy produced by union jobs here at home. Now is not the time to sitback; Congress must seize the opportunity it has and create the clean energy job boom our country needs.”
