MADISON - Today the Wisconsin Public Services Commission (PSC) approved the Koshkonong Solar Energy Center with two votes of support and one abstention. Koshkonong Solar Energy Center will add 300 megawatts (MW) of solar energy and 165 MW of battery storage to the energy grid, continuing Wisconsin’s much-needed transition to clean, renewable energy.
In response to this decision, Sierra Club Four Lakes Group Co-Chair Ronda Conner issued this statement:
“Today’s approval of the Koshkonong Solar Energy Center by the PSC is a significant step forward. Instead of replacing retiring coal plants with fossil gas which would continue to exacerbate climate change, 100% clean renewable energy saves customers money, protects our health and precious lands and waters, and provides strong, reliable economic benefits to both farmers and communities. Both small and large-scale renewable energy projects provide grid benefits, and are among the much-needed responses to the climate change impacts Dane County and Wisconsin are already experiencing.”
