Thank you to all of you who have been part of the Clean Energy Task Force community! This past year, the Oregon Sierra Club Chapter has undergone many changes, from the relaunched Executive Committee to the in-process hiring of a new Executive Director. Unfortunately, a recent hiring freeze has delayed the search for a national organizer to support CETF. This challenge has created an opportunity, focused on building community, key capacities and impactful teams. After gathering feedback about the future of the Clean Energy Task Force, we have decided to dissolve the Clean Energy Task Force. We are not dissolving the knowledge or relationships we have built, merely the formal structure. Your passion, skills and diligence in changemaking can be redirected towards constructing an even more impactful Chapter. In the short time since our last meeting, volunteers have lined up to support our new engagement team, develop a communications team, join our executive committee, and are working to seed a political committee. Opportunities are abundant.
As we move forward, we should all take time to reflect and celebrate the impactful environmental justice work the task force has supported - from the Portland Clean Energy Fund to the Oregon Clean Energy Opportunity Campaign. We have also helped develop volunteer leaders whose vision and engagement are helping shape the future of the Oregon Sierra Club. This group’s commitment to learning and relationship building was something special. adrienne maree brown, one of our favorite movement organizers, taught us about fractals, instilling the lesson that “what we practice at the small scale sets the patterns for the whole system.” It is our most sincere hope that our volunteers find energy in the new opportunities across the Chapter that seed patterns and practices that are impactful and positive.
Looking forward to what comes next,
- CETF Steering Committee: Ally, John, Allen, and Janet
