This week is your chance to weigh in on North Carolina’s draft clean energy plan! The Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) will accept comments on the plan until Monday, Sept. 9.
In October 2018, Gov. Roy Cooper issued Executive Order 80, which set a target to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in North Carolina by 40% (from 2005 levels) by 2025 - a major step to address climate change. This goal is in line with the 2015 Paris Agreement goals and honors the state’s commitments to the U.S. Climate Alliance. DEQ developed a strong draft plan for how to get us there. If you like, you can read the plan yourself.
DEQ will review your comments and present a final plan to the Governor on Oct. 1. So please weigh in - use our recommended comments or add your own thoughts!
Thanks for taking action to address climate change!
