Sea Level Rise on the Carolina Coast

The Croatan Group shares an interactive tool developed by the Southern Environmental Law Center on Our Changing Coast. The tool allows you to visualize rising sea levels, the impact to existing superfund sites and wetlands, and it measures "social vulnerability," the factors like low income that make it difficult for some Southern communities to escape an imminent storm, or move out of flood-prone areas.

The Haw River flows 110 miles from headwater springs in the eastern edge of Forsyth County down to Chatham County where it meets the Deep River to become the Cape Fear River.  The Haw flows through Guilford, Rockingham, Alamance, Orange and Chatham counties, and is fed by tributaries in Caswell, Durham and western Wake counties as well. The watershed encompasses about 1700 square mile

Central Piedmont Group is part of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Climate Leaders Group. The work of the organization includes the Strategic Energy Action Plan (SEAP), the Mecklenburg County Commissioners Clean Energy Resolution and the Charlotte Mecklenburg School System Solar Initiative.
