The NC Senate budget is not good for transportation. See the budget here and call or write your senator.
It does not include the new state match for bike/ped in small towns. It does not revise the limitations on light rail funding. It includes heavy fees for EVs ($230) and plug-in hybrids ($115), with future increases. It includes a cap on Powell bill funding at $7.5M per city or town. Like the House Budget it establishes a new Spot Mobility/ Modernization fund. It also establishes a small Transportation Emergency Reserve fund wherein NCDOT can place up to $25M of the agency’s end of year balance, with a total cap of $100M. The fund can be used for disaster recovery.
