Thank you to everyone who spoke at Charlotte City Council's Public Forum
Last month, Charlotte Mayor Vi Lyles made the decision to eliminate the City Council’s stand-alone Environment Committee, merging it with Public Safety and Housing, into a new Neighborhood Development Committee.
This decision strips members of the City Council of Chair positions, such as Dimple Ajmera and Braxton Winston, and means that each of these issues, including the environment, will receive less attention and less focus from the City Council. We need a strong Environment Committee to continue the progress made over the last 18 months to address climate change. Keep an eye on this issue as it develops.
