South Mountains State Park Off the Beaten Path 12 Mile Hike June 4,2016

June 4, 2016 8:45 a.m.

Celebrate National Trails Day and the Centennial of North Carolina State Parks by spending a day hiking the more remote and peaceful areas of this beautiful park.

This is a full day (up to 7 hours) outing and you must be confident you can walk 12 miles. There is an uphill portion of 3.75 miles at the start, the rest of the hike is a gentle meander down through rich woods and along creeks. Bring adequate snacks and lunch to sustain you on a day long hike.  Bring at least two liters of water, but if you need more, we can filter some along the way. Bring water shoes if you'd like, we may have an opportunity to do some rock hopping and dip our toes in a mountain stream.

All participants on Sierra Club outings have to sign a standard liability waiver.

Please contact Outings Leader Linda Alley to register for this hike.  Limited to 12 participants.
