The Tahoe Area Group and Sierra State Parks Foundation hosted a wildflower walk in Washoe Meadows State Park on July 18th with the Tahoe Institute for Natural Sciences lead this walk, with the leader being Bob Sweatt, who is very knowledgeable about the plants in the Lake Tahoe basin.  With this walk being late in the blooming season, the group of about 25 missed some wildflowers blooming in the park in May but were still able to catch some flowers blooming later in the season such as the Hooded Ladies Tresses  and Marsh Cinquefoil.  The Sierra Club, along with other local groups have been instrumental in protecting the park from being encroached upon by the adjoining golf course. For photos from previous wildflower walks in Washoe Meadows State Park, see our Washoe Meadows State Park page and scroll all the way down to find the powerpoints.
