We are an all-volunteer organization, and we always welcome new members!
ICO volunteers get to help introduce youths and young adults to nature and the outdoors - almost always a new experience for most of them - but also get to go along on fun outings that include hikes, sledding and snowshoeing, beach trips, whitewater rafting, backpacking, skiing, and kayaking, just to name some of our activities. On an ICO outing Volunteers typically help with general supervision, transportation (if needed), assistance with food and equipment, and mostly just general entertainment.
Because we work with youths, all prospective volunteers must go through a screening process that includes:
-
a criminal background check (no cost to applicant),
-
personal references, and
-
a meeting with ICO Leaders
