Today the Sierra Club announced its endorsement of Rep. Ilhan Omar for reelection in Minnesota's 5th Congressional District.
"We are proud to endorse Representative Ilhan Omar for reelection in 2020," said Margaret Levin, State Director for the Sierra Club North Star Chapter. “Representative Omar has been a champion for climate justice, and we share her vision for 100% renewable energy, an accelerated transition from fossil fuels to a green economy, and zero-waste communities across the country. She has forged strong coalitions with those most affected by environmental and racial injustices and is a fierce challenger to corporate polluters.”
“Given the current administration’s continued threats to our clean air and water and public lands, it is more important than ever to elect environmental champions like Representative Omar. We applaud her leadership and look forward to continued work together in Minnesota and in D.C.”
The Sierra Club will mobilize its members and supporters to elect endorsed candidates.
