ELECTIONS

ELECTION 2022

The leaders we choose through the 2022 election will decide about policies and enact legislation to address challenges we face and set the course for our future. More than ever, we need leaders who will make necessary changes that address our complex, interconnected social and environmental problems. We need leaders to address climate change, to accelerate a just transition away from fossil fuels, to make wise decisions about transportation infrastructure and land use, to protect our air and our water from pollution, to conserve our natural places and restore our tree canopy, to work toward zero waste, to ensure community engagement, equity, and environmental justice?

The Maryland Sierra Club’s political program works to elect environmental champions to offices across the state of Maryland. To identify candidates who share our core values of equity, justice and inclusion and who will address climate change and protect of our air, our water, our land, and our health, Sierra Club political committees at the state and local levels evaluate candidates through existing public records, questionnaire responses, and interviews. Endorsement decisions are approved by committees at two separate levels within the Sierra Club.

Visit the Maryland Board of Elections website for information about important dates, how to register to vote, how to vote by mail, and where and when you can vote in-person during early voting or on election day. You can use the voter look-up tool to check your voting districts, as some have changed due to redistricting after the 2020 Census.
