Sleeping Accommodations: Lodging is included. Each of the four dorms contains two 15-person rooms. Each dorm has two separate bathrooms with walk-in hot showers, flush toilets, and sinks. (There are showers in the camp's gym as well.) The beds are twin-size with vinyl covered mattresses; they are single beds, no bunks. Electric outlets are provided in the bathrooms. The dorms are heated. We will be assigning people to sleep in cabins in categories such as families, couples, single women, single men, night owls, morning doves & roosters, and snorers.  Please let us know your preferences beforehand or upon arrival if your assignment is incorrect.

Items to Bring:

  1. Clothing and outerwear for a camping weekend.  Keeping in mind the colder October temps and participation in outdoor activities, bring appropriate clothing such as hiking boots, warm clothing, yoga gear, and rain gear for inclement weather.  Also, street shoes are prohibited in the gym, so be sure to bring athletic shoes if using the basketball court.
  2. Bedding: twin bed sheets, pillows, and blankets or a sleeping bag.
  3. Towel, washcloth, and toiletries (e.g. soap, shampoo, toothbrush/toothpaste). Please keep any personal food stash in the kitchen stock area, not in the dorms.
  4. Optional: travel mugs for hot beverages, water bottles, bug spray, money (to pay for Auction items if you choose to bid).

Dining and Meal Accommodations: All meals are included.  This year, we are working to incorporate more local, seasonal, and organic food choices in our menu.  Please be sure to indicate on your application any special food concerns you may have (such as vegetarian or any food allergies, etc. ), so we may plan to accommodate you as best as possible.

Internet/Phones: There is no wireless on site. Verizon and AT&T have cellular service to the camp, and 4G access should be good.

Local Shopping: The town of Thurmont is 15 minutes away from camp and has grocery stores, shopping, etc. A nearby farmer's stand also sells seasonal fruit, veggies, and apple cider (cash only). The nearby Welcome Center also has a gift shop, and sells a small variety of hiking gear, maps, and souvenirs.

Play ball!Camp Round Meadow Campfire CircleRecreation Opportunities: A variety of interpretive and accessible trails, exhibits, scenic vistas and picnic areas are within walking distance of the campground.  A mixed hardwood forest covers nearly the entire park. Visitors will find abundant wildlife, freshwater streams and interesting geological formations throughout the park. Many plants and animals, including several Maryland Threatened species, thrive within this forest sanctuary. Recreation.gov has some additional information. We will have several led hikes, including a BioBlitz.  Other planned activities include a campfire sing-a-long with s'mores, contra band dancing, morning yoga, and kids' crafting activities.  A large open grassy area can be used for open play or lawn games, while the gym has a basketball court with a wooden floor.

Handicap Accessibility: Camp Round Meadow is accessible to wheelchairs, including all dorms, the dining hall, and the gym and conference rooms. There is handicap accessible parking in the parking lot. However, the hiking trail on the campgrounds is not accessible for wheelchairs, and some guests may have difficulty reaching all areas of the campgrounds and some rooms in the gym. Please call the office with any questions or concerns so we can best accommodate all guests. Additionally, Spicebush Trail, a quarter-mile interpretive trail, is a wheelchair-accessible trail located within the park. The park website has additional accessibility information.
