Annapolis, MD – Today, Governor Wes Moore announced that the state of Maryland will be receiving $130 million to promote greenhouse gas reduction and conservation projects through grants authorized under the Inflation Reduction Act. Under one of the grants the Maryland Department of Transportation and the Maryland Department of the Environment will receive a combined $80 million to support zero-emission transportation infrastructure in the state.

In response, Maryland Sierra Club Senior Transportation Campaign Representative, Lindsey Mendelson has released the following statement:

“Last year, Maryland became the 10th state to adopt life-saving clean truck standards by adopting the Advanced Clean Trucks rule. Electric trucks are critical to cleaning up dirty air pollution in our communities, reducing our dependence on fossil fuels, and helping us meet our state’s climate goals. We applaud the Moore Administration for securing over $80 million in federal funding to support electric charging sites for zero-emission commercial freight trucks operating around the I-95 corridor in Maryland.”
