Lobby the Maryland General Assembly with Sierra Club!

Dear Friend,

The 2019 session of the Maryland General Assembly has begun, and we need YOUR HELP to turn grassroots environmental activism into legislative power in Annapolis.  Group poses in Annapolis with Sierra Club sign

Make your voice heard by attending Sierra Club’s Lobby Night in Annapolis on February 25!

Write your legislators to urge them to support our priority bills.

Our priorities include:

  • Get Maryland on the path to achieving 100% clean energy by 2040.

  • Require the Maryland Department of the Environment to fully utilize its authority under the federal Clean Water Act to conduct rigorous, independent reviews of new, proposed gas pipelines.

  • Require the state to clearly and explicitly measure the climate and air pollution impacts of proposed large transportation projects, such as widening highways, before deciding whether to approve them.

  • Ban single-use foam food containers, which litter the land and waters, and are a major contributor to the plastic pollution overwhelming our oceans.

Attending Lobby Night is super easy - we schedule legislator meetings for you, and provide you with fact sheets, talking points, and lobbying tips. You bring your passion and dedication.

RSVP for the Sierra Club's annual Lobby Night!

Also, register to attend the annual Environmental Summit on February 6 in Annapolis, 4-6pm, organized by a broad coalition of Maryland environmental groups.

For more information about our legislative action plan, check out our legislative website. To volunteer and/or to join our legislative listserv for special updates, please email legislation@mdsierra.org.

We hope to see you in Annapolis on February 25th!
