In September, communities around the world will rise again for climate action! On September 8th & 9th, as a followup to last year's successful Climate March, the People's Climate Movement is calling on us all to "Rise for Climate, Jobs, and Justice!". Instead of a single march in Washington D.C., you're invited to one of a series of decentralized events around the country.
In Maryland, Sierra Club is working in collaboration with other environmental, labor, climate justice, and social change organizations to plan and host a number of events around the state. There are already 10 events planned in Maryland and we hope you will join us!
The events will highlight the need and desire to move to 100% clean renewable energy, ensure energy and environmental justice for all, and provide for a just transition for workers and communities affected by the urgently needed transition away from fossil fuels. And it's not too late if you want to plan your own event!
Here's a list of the events that are being planned so far. Sign up for one near you - We may schedule additional events so stay tuned for more info! We will send periodic updates but the most complete list of events can be found here.

Now more than ever it's important that we come together in our cities and states to fight for climate action. Meaningful leadership has always come from the grassroots, and in the face of a climate-denying President, local, state, and regional progress is the way to proceed at this time.
Take a stand for the survival of our planet. Show our leaders the strength of this movement. To make this change, we need everyone.
