(JUNE 12, 2018) RANDALLSTOWN, MD – Maryland Sierra Club today announced their endorsement of Johnny Olszewski Jr. for Baltimore County Executive.
Chapter Director Josh Tulkin:
“Throughout his career, Olszewski has consistently promoted a progressive environmental vision for Baltimore County. As a state delegate, Olszewski sponsored legislation to end millions of dollars in subsidies toward “black liquor” waste; successfully passed legislation to enhance Maryland’s commitment to recycling; and aggressively advocated for the use of wind turbines at Sparrows Point. Johnny is a proven effective environmental leader. Johnny has the dedication, passion, and savvy for this job, and we are proud to give him our support.”
The Sierra Club has over 7000 members and supporters in Baltimore County. Sierra Club endorsement decisions are made by the organizations volunteer leadership.

As County Executive, Olszewski has pledged to:
Hold the line on development and protect Baltimore County’s historic Urban Rural Demarcation Line;
Set an aggressive timeline to ensure Baltimore County expands renewable energy targets to 50 percent;
Remain committed to stormwater remediation in order to prevent future flooding and reduce sediment pollution; and
Expand tax incentives for homeowners and business who install solar panels and adopt other renewable energy practices.
