This year Marc Imlay received the National Invasive Species Awareness Week (NISAW) Award for his volunteer work in the Terrestrial category.
The NISAW Awards recognize the leadership and accomplishments of important partners, and increase awareness and understanding by the media and public about invasive species issues. The NISAW Awards Program features three award categories which include an aquatic and terrestrial component.
The winners were presented with their awards during the week of NISAW, February 22 – 28, 2015 in Washington, DC.
The awards are offered jointly by the Aquatic Nuisance Species Task Force (ANSTF), the National Invasive Species Council (NISC) and the Federal Interagency Committee for the Management of Noxious and Exotic Weeds (FICMNEW).
Dr. Imlay, Conservation Biologist M-NCPPC (left of the potted plant in this photo), is the Chair of the Biodiversity and Habitat Stewardship Committee of the Maryland Sierra Club, and a member of the Chapter Executive Committee. In addition, he serves on the Boards of Mid-Atlantic Invasive Plant Council and the Maryland Native Plant Society. Congratulations, Marc!
