Staff Changes at the MD Office

In the last few weeks, there has been a lot of change here at the Maryland Chapter. First, we were sad to see the departure of Christine Hill, who led our Beyond Coal Program for the last three years. Chris was responsible for launching our grassroots Beyond Coal team, led our effort to pass the Maryland Offshore Wind Bill, and coordinated our legislative team. Luckily, Chris hasn't gone far. She was offered the prestigious job of Director of Communications and Government Relations for the Maryland Energy Administration, and can be reached at chris.hill[@]maryland.gov.

As if by a miracle, we were lucky enough to bring Candice Frederick to our team as the Administrative Assistant for the Maryland Sierra Club. Before joining the Club, Candice worked in Sales, Property Management and Non-Profit work, and brings experience in event organizing, fundraising/database management, and general admin support. She spends her free time with her two children. On Saturdays Candice volunteers with the Special Needs Bowling League in Crofton, MD. Candice is the Volunteer Coordinator for the league, working with high school students to complete community service hours.

As Administrative Assistant, Candice will be responsible for many office logistics, including opening the office in the morning, answering the phone, ordering supplies, etc. Additionally, she will support fundraising, special events, and managing community service volunteers. Some of these responsibilities will be transitioned from Laurel or other staff, so don't be surprised if you are re-directed to Candice.

Candice will be part-time, four days a week, about 20 hours a week. Her hours are: Monday and Tuesday, 9:30 to 4:00, Wednesday and Friday, 9:30 to 2:00.

Please join me in welcoming Candice to our team. Her email is candice.frederick[@]mdsierra.org. Feel free to write and introduce yourself!
