You have an important opportunity to speak for protection of wolves on Monday, September 30 in Washington, DC. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has proposed to remove the gray wolf (Canis lupus) from the list of threatened and endangered species, even though wolf recovery is far from complete. If this plan goes forward, more states will have responsibility for managing the wolf population. In the states where protection is already handled by the states, more than 1700 wolves were ruthlessly killed in the past two years. Sierra Club is working with the Defenders of Wildlife on this important campaign.
Please plan to attend a rally starting at 4 p.m. in the park across C street from the Dept. of the Interior building, where you can learn more about this issue. Following the rally, the public hearing starts at 6 p.m. in the Dept. of the Interior auditorium. This is one of only three public hearings across the United States, and it is critical to communicate our support for wolves. The hearing site is only a few blocks from the Federal Triangle, Foggy Bottom, and Farragut metro stations.

Whether you can attend the hearing or not, please send a message now to protect wolves!
