Join me at the MD Sierra Club's statewide gathering!

Hi Maryland Folks!

I hope you can join me this year at the Maryland Sierra Club Jamboree - our bi-annual membership gathering.     This is when we take a break from the lobbying, emails, conference calls, newsletters, and phonebanking to gather with fellow Sierrans, enjoy the outdoors, educate ourselves, and plan our future.

This year will feature some excellent local speakers as well as national campaigners from Sierra Club headquarters.  You can learn about our campaigns to promote renewable energy, clean up our water, and protect us from the dangerous risks of hydrofracking for natural gas.

Hear from local environmental leaders like Jim Long, President of the Mattawoman Watershed Society who will tell us of Charles County's history and why it is the 3rd highest in the state for ecological value.  This year Sierra Club's native plant warrior Marc Imlay will bring together wildlife experts for his famous bioblitz where you can learn to identify local plant and animals.

And of course, your Sierra Club outdoor favorites -  music, campfires, fun, games, hikes, and an auction.

This year the Jamboree will be held at  Lions Camp Merrick in Nanjemoy, in Charles County.    The camp has overlooks the beautiful Potomac River, with 320 acres of forests and hiking trails.   Accomodations include camping as well as family cabins.

Register online here. Learn more and register here. Or you can print and mail your registration form.  And if you are still not convinced, check out these pictures from past Jamborees.

Remember to invite your friends!
