HAPPY HOUR Co-sponsored by the Gulf of Maine Research Institute

Join Sierra Club Maine and the Gulf of Maine Research Institute (GMRI) for Happy Hour, Thursday, April 18th at the Gulf of Maine Research Institute. GMRI staff will present information and data behind sea level rise and explore models projecting impacts in your community while examining potential resiliency measures.

When: April 18th from 5:00-7 pm.

Where: Gulf of Maine Research Institute: 350 Commercial Street, Portland, ME. Parking to the right of the building.

 

Between the Waves

"Between the Waves," a film of the TEDX talk by 15-year-old Swedish activist Greta Thunberg. The film, produced by three high school sophomores, will be followed by a presentation led by four high school students about the connection between plastic pollution, climate change, and the proposed Polystyrene Foam Ordinance; artwork from Kittery's Traip Academy students will be on display.

Anthropocene: The Human epoch

A cinematic meditation on humanity's massive reengineering of the planet, ANTHROPOCENE: The Human Epoch is a four years in the making feature documentary film from the multiple-award winning team of Jennifer Baichwal, Nicholas de Pencier and Edward Burtynsky.

The film is witnesses in an experiential and non-didactic sense a critical moment in geological history — bringing a provocative and unforgettable experience of our species' breadth and impact.
