2018 LA Regular Legislative Session - Sierra Club Priorities

We need Sierra Club members to SPEAK UP this legislative session!

We have the chance to save our Scenic Rivers program, stop open munitions burning and the poisoning of residents in Colfax, Louisiana, and stop the destructive "One Lake project" that will dam the Pearl River.

But we can't do it alone - we need your help!

Here's how you can get involved:

(1) Contact your legislators directly!

   (a) Contact the Senate Natural Resources and House Natural Resources and Environment Committee members directly and tell them you oppose weakening the Scenic Rivers Act (that you oppose SB 430 and HB 411).

   (b) Contact the House Natural Resources and Environment Committee members directly and tell them you support banning open burning of munitions in Colfax, LA (that you support HB 431).

   (c) Contact the Senate Natural Resources Committee members directly and tell them you support the denial of the US Army Corps of Engineers permit for the destructive "One Lake" project on the Pearl River (that you support SCR 5).

(2) Register for our annual Environmental Policy Day at the capitol (Lobby Day), which will be Wednesday, April 25, 2018 (Click here to register). We will have a citizen lobbyist training, participation in a committee hearing, a luncheon in the Governor's Press Office to which legislators have been invited to attend, and opportunities to speak with your legislators.  Hurry - register now!

(3) Follow along with all the legislation the Sierra Club is tracking on our Legislative Page.

** LET'S GET TO 10! **

Help us reach our goal of every legislator on these committees receiving just 10 phone calls or emails on each of these bills we're tracking - it will make a difference!

This is our chance to make a difference in Baton Rouge! Let's all do our part to help protect our natural world in Louisiana!
