The U.S. Forest Service has announced that it will consider withholding consent for the renewal of two mineral leases located on the edge of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness in Minnesota, and will collect public input on the decision.
Denying the extensions would be a crucial step forward for permanently protecting the Boundary Waters from toxic sulfide mining; the North Star Chapter is working to protect the BWCA, Lake Superior, and all waters from this grave threat.
