April 2, 2023
In honor of Earth Day, the featured Waypoint this April is our own “Goldilocks Planet.”
Earth is unique in our solar system. It is the only known planet to sustain life. Its position as the third rock from the Sun assures sufficient sunlight to provide energy for photosynthesis, the basis of virtually all earthly food chains. With over 70 percent of its surface covered with liquid water that helps store and distribute heat energy, our home enjoys a moderate temperate range. Free oxygen in a non-toxic atmosphere provides us with a stratospheric ozone layer that protects us from lethal solar radiation.
Celebrate Earth Day every day. There is no Planet B.
