NO ON 2
AUGUST 2 PRIMARY BALLOT ISSUE - Right to Choose
The proposed No State Constitutional Right to Abortion and Legislative Power to Regulate Abortion Amendment to the Kansas Constitution, if passed, will remove protection for reproductive health care options. Despite differences in religious and political beliefs, more than 72 per cent of Americans support choice.
A "No Vote" is a vote to protect women's right to make choices about their reproductive health care in Kansas.
A "NO" vote opposes amending the Kansas Constitution to state that nothing in the state constitution creates a right to abortion or requires government funding for abortion and that the state legislature has the authority to pass laws regarding abortion, thereby maintaining the legal precedent established in Hodes & Nauser v. Schmidt (2019) that there is a right to abortions in the Kansas Bill of Rights.
A 'YES" Vote supports amending the Kansas Constitution to state that nothing in the state constitution creates a right to abortion or requires government funding for abortion and that the state legislature has the authority to pass laws regarding abortion.
The Sierra Club believes that reproductive rights and environmental justice are deeply connected. We support comprehensive, voluntary reproductive health care for all. Reproductive freedom is a human right.
Eva Hernandez-Simmons, the Sierra Club’s Managing Director: "Every person in this country deserves the right to live in healthy and safe communities with access to clean air, clean water, and healthcare, full stop. The Sierra Club is united with our allies in demanding that our fundamental constitutional right to abortions and healthcare be upheld..."
We are one Sierra Club. National policy is our policy. PLEASE VOTE NO ON 2.
