BY MIMI MOFFAT, Kansas Chapter Nominations Chair
Did you know that our chapter is run by volunteers? Our chapter executive committee members are responsible for fundraising, communications, administrative and political advocacy, conservation, environmental education, and litigation, as well as oversight of our five Kansas geographic groups.
We are administrators charged with navigating a complex system designed to comply with IRS guidelines and to promote Sierra Club policies and our focus on equity, inclusion, and justice. The geographic groups have their own executive committees which appoint one of their members as a chapter delegate, a voting member of the chapter executive committee.
The Sierra Club is the most enduring and influential grassroots environmental organization in the United States. We amplify the power of our millions of members and supporters to defend everyone’s right to a healthy world. We depend on people like you who give their time and money to support our work to:
• Protect wild places and endangered species,
• Keep our air and water clean,
• Ensure a clean energy future,
• Curb climate change, and
• Keep the pressure on politicians and corporations to ensure safe and healthy communities.
If you’re reading this, we know you support our passion for the environment. We want your passion and your skills. But being an ExCom member is a serious commitment. Do you have what it takes to be a Sierra Club leader? If you’re all in, please apply ASAP. Let me know if you have questions. Contact Mimi.
