Making a difference in your community
Volunteer-driven grassroots groups like the Woods & Wetlands Group have a direct personal stake in protecting our air, water, and open spaces. We understand local culture and politics. We do the plain-Jane work that needs to be done — for environmental and social justice causes.
Ready to make a difference on issues you care about? The Woods & Wetlands Group welcomes volunteers for one-time tasks, leadership roles, and everything in between.
Many volunteer opportunities with the Woods & Wetlands Group involve as little as 2 hours a month. Here are a few examples:
- Bring refreshments to program meetings
- Invite members to events
- Help plan outings
- Sample local waterways
- Meet with local elected officials
- Staff tables at community events
- Update data records
- Meet people interested in joining our movement
You can make a bigger difference than you realize with just a few hours each month. And when we multiply those hours by dozens — or better yet, hundreds — of members, we become a powerful force for positive change.
Take the first step
- Email a committee chair or other volunteer leader
- Fill out a volunteer interest survey
- Chat with current volunteers at a program meeting
