Electing environmental leaders
In order to make good laws that protect our environment, we must elect good lawmakers — for local, state, and federal offices.
Today, members of the Woods & Wetlands Group embody our "protect the planet" principles by helping elect candidates for public office who will be environmental leaders.
Our Political Committee works hard to evaluate candidates running for public offices in Lake County and northern Cook County in Illinois. The committee recommends candidates who share our values for possible Sierra Club endorsement.
Our Political Committee, with help from Chapter staff and other members, also identifies priority races in which endorsed candidates merit support through Sierra Club Political Action Committees (PACs).
As a Sierra Club volunteer, you are welcome to get involved in this important process.
