Special Speaker Event: "Coyotes Among Us"

Coyotes Among Us
Learn more about coyotes on November 21!

Dr. Stanley Gehrt, an international expert on urban wildlife, will headline a special in-person speaker event offering a new perspective on coyotes on Thursday, November 21. Presented by the Woods & Wetlands Group of the Illinois Sierra Club and the Lake County Forest Preserves, the event will be held at the Bess Bower Dunn Museum of Lake County in Libertyville.

Dr. Gehrt, a professor at Ohio State University’s School of Environment and Natural Resources, will share insights from his recent book, Coyotes Among Us: Secrets of the City’s Top Predator. His book is based on more than 20 years of research through the Urban Coyote Research Project, based in metropolitan Chicago.

While coyotes are often portrayed in the news as threats to people and their pets, Dr. Gehrt and coauthor Kerry Luft will share surprising truths about these remarkable creatures—including their wide range (49 states), their innate ability to adapt to a variety of climates and environments, and  the surprising benefits of living with coyotes.
