What states come to mind as leaders in wind and solar energy? If you said California, you'd be on the right track. Actually, in terms of gigawatt hours generated in 2020, the top 5 states are Texas, California, Iowa, Oklahoma, and Kansas. What about Illinois? Illinois is Number 6.
