Now that the threat of the Route 53 tollway extension is behind us, the question is, “What should we do with the 13-mile long strip of largely undeveloped open space once earmarked for the controversial highway project?”
Residents and politicians from across Lake County have spoken up: We must protect it!
The Woods & Wetlands Group invites you to attend an August 28 Day of Action to support the community-led Green Corridor Coalition. We will go door-to-door in a frontline community to gather signatures from neighborhood residents who support protecting the open-space corridor (which literally cuts through their subdivision).
Put on your walking shoes and meet us at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 28 at Scott Brown Park, 136 N. Southport Road, Mundelein. We will canvass until 3 p.m. Register here.
This event is held in collaboration with the Green Corridor Coalition, a growing group of residents, environmentalists, organizations, and politicians who are fighting to protect this land.
