Victory for Florida’s State Parks: A Step Toward a Sustainable Future

We are thrilled to announce that, due to overwhelming public opposition, Governor DeSantis has put on hold the harmful proposals to develop nine of Florida’s State Parks. This victory underscores the power of collective action and our shared commitment to protecting Florida’s natural spaces.

👏 A heartfelt thank you to everyone who took action—sending emails, calling the Governor’s office, pressuring legislators, sharing information, or attending rallies. Your efforts made all the difference.

At the Sierra Club, our mission is to "explore, enjoy, and protect the wild places of the earth; practice and promote the responsible use of the earth's ecosystems and resources; educate and enlist humanity to protect and restore the quality of the natural and human environment; and use all lawful means to carry out these objectives." This victory reaffirms our commitment to these principles.

To celebrate, we invite you to the Water Protectors’ Meetup at Ichetucknee Springs State Park, featuring a Meet, Greet, and Splash. Join us to honor this success and discuss our next steps while enjoying one of Florida’s most beautiful springs.
